Hi, I'm Lydia!

Home Birth Midwife serving the Eugene/Springfield area

Hi there! I am Lydia, a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM) new to the Eugene area! I offer home births in Eugene, Springfield, Coburg, Cottage Grove, Dexter, Lowel and surrounding areas.
I provide safe, compassionate, and inclusive prenatal care to birthing people, with a focus on informed consent. I offer low-intervention birth and hope that my clients are comfortable making their own decisions regarding their care and birthing choices. I want to support you in having the birth and prenatal care that you desire.
I offer water birth, breastfeeding support, well-baby care, well person care (including your 6 week pap), placenta encapsulation services, and can refer to other providers in the area as necessary.
I spent the last 2 years attending births as a primary midwife in the Eugene area with a busy group practice. I have attended approximately 150+ births as a licensed midwife.
What is Midwifery Care Like?
At each prenatal appointment, we will spend an hour together in the comfort of your own home. I take vitals, and listen to your baby's heart rate with either a doppler or fetoscope. I can order routine labs and ultrasounds as well. I encourage other children and family members to be involved and participate in your care.
If you choose to have me as your midwife, in addition to routine prenatal care, you can always shoot me a text or message me through your midwife app!
A Little About Me
My midwifery journey began in 2012 after the birth of my first son. I had a somewhat traumatic hospital birth that led me to research alternative birth options and eventually about midwifery. During my research, I strongly felt called to midwifery. I reached out to a local freestanding birth center and started my apprenticeship in 2013.
After apprenticing for about a year, I took a break from births to have 2 more babies (both born safely and quickly at home). This break was a great time to continue my self-study. After a nearly 4 year break from births, I started an apprenticeship in Grants Pass, OR where I spent two more years attending births and continuing my studies.
I earned my Certified Professional Midwife certification through the North American Registry of Midwives in May 2020 and became a Licensed Direct Entry Midwife in the state of Oregon in June of 2020.   I am passionate about providing true informed consent to birthing people and their families. I believe that birth is a normal and natural process and the birthing person is in charge of their care. Midwifery is my passion and I am so thankful that families trust me to be involved in such an intimate part of their lives.
When I’m not busy catching babies, I love spending time with my family. I am a mother to 3 amazing boys and am an avid house plant hobbyist. We love to make and eat charcuterie boards, get outside as often as possible, and camp all summer long!
